Jean Eddy is the President and CEO of American Student Assistance (ASA), where she develops and drives the overall strategic direction of the organization. Working with the ASA Board and senior management team, she is responsible for developing and driving the overall strategic direction of the organization in fulfillment of ASA’s mission. Jean provides leadership and oversight for ASA as it evaluates and implements new initiatives to help kids discover their education and career opportunities.

Danielle Nuhfer is a former public-school teacher turned teacher wellness coach, author of The Path of the Mindful Teacher, and the founder of Teaching Well.
With over 20 years of experience navigating the challenges of the current school system (including two bouts of her own burnout), she's dedicated her career to helping educators embrace and implement research-backed solutions to the pervasive stress and overwhelm running rampant in our education system, so that they can be part of creating a thriving learning community.

Coach Carlos Johnson - Power Engage: Seven Power Moves for Building Strong Relationships to Increase Engagement with Students and Parents. This is episode 654 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast.
As a professional speaker, trainer, and author, Carlos Johnson, aka “Coach Carlos,” is locally bred, but his work and research on culture and engagement have taken him across the nation and globe.
Coach Carlos and his team of consultants have utilized his experience and research to successfully turn around three failing public schools and one private Christian academy. In addition, his training and strategies have helped to change school culture and increase parental engagement, student enrollment, and staff and student retention.
His driving belief can be best summarized by the following quote: “After 20 years of research, all evidence confirms that a highly engaged school culture is the mother of high performance!” The research and results from this philosophy led Coach Carlos to create his systematic approach to revolutionizing school culture by teaching districts how to build healthy performance-based relationships and institutionalize stakeholder engagement. In 2015, Coach Carlos stepped into principalship, and during his three-year tenure, he doubled school enrollment, increased staff pay, transformed school culture, and increased student performance schoolwide.
In response to the national school-to-prison pipeline crisis for young men, Coach Carlos created an online Tier-2 PBIS behavior and leadership course for boys called Future Man Success Prep. In addition, his PowerEngage system is an online/on-site system that trains thousands of parents, students, and instructional teams each year on the psychology and practice of engagement.
Coach Carlos is committed to transforming institutions and individuals through leadership and learning.

Lorraine M. Radice, PhD - Leading a Culture of Reading: How to Ignite & Sustain a Love of Literacy in Your School Community. This is episode 653 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast.
Lorraine Radice, PhD, is the PreK–12 director of literacy in Long Beach Public Schools in New York. There, she leads curricular improvement and facilitates professional learning experiences for teachers. Dr. Radice leads teams to develop literacy curricula, monitor student engagement and progress, bridge literacy experiences between the school and community, and consistently build a culture that promotes and celebrates reading and literacy. She also teaches professional development courses for teachers that align with district goals. Prior to becoming a school leader, Lorraine was an English teacher and literacy specialist. She also taught in programs to support language acquisition for elementary, middle, and high school students learning English. Dr. Radice teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in childhood education and literacy at Hofstra University in New York.
Dr. Radice is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and presents at its national conferences. Her writing has been featured on the NCTE blog. she is also a member of the International Literacy Association and has published in ILA’s Literacy Today. Dr. Radice is committed to sharing in professional learning communities at the local, state, and national levels where she presents her research and field work. Her research on digital literacies in middle level classrooms was published in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment: Intersecting New Needs and New Approaches, a volume in The Handbook of Research in Middle Level Education. Student work from Dr. Radice’s teams has been featured in ASCD’s Educational Leadership magazine.
Lorraine earned a bachelor’s degree in childhood education and psychology and a master’s degree in literacy studies at Hofstra University. She earned an advanced certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from St. John’s University. She also earned an advanced certificate in educational leadership and a doctorate in philosophy in literacy studies at Hofstra University.
