Elliott Seif, PhD - Teaching for Lifelong Learning: How to Prepare Students for a Changing World. This is episode 652 of Teaching Learning Leading K12, an audio podcast.
Elliott Seif, PhD, is an educational presenter, author, school volunteer, and public-school advocate. He has served as a social studies teacher, a professor of education at Temple University, and the director of curriculum and instruction services for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, an educational service agency for Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
At the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, Dr. Seif provided leadership in curriculum and instruction training and reform, and he developed, led, or participated in more than 50 program reviews for Bucks County school districts. He has conducted professional development programs with numerous schools and school districts throughout the United States and abroad on a variety of topics, including standards-based education, thinking-skill development, instructional improvement, assessment issues, and curriculum development.
Dr. Seif is the author of many books, handbooks, articles, commentaries, and reports, including a textbook on the teaching of elementary social studies. He has published articles in Educational Leadership, the journal of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
Dr. Seif has received many awards for his accomplishments, including from ASCD, the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units, the Pennsylvania Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and Bucks County Schools.
Dr. Seif earned a Master of Education degree from Harvard University and a doctorate in curriculum research and development from Washington University in St. Louis.
Our focus will be on his book - Teaching for Lifelong Learning: How to Prepare Students for a Changing World.

Karen Gazith, PhD, is a faculty lecturer in the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology at McGill University, where she also serves as the graduate program director for the Certificate of Inclusive Education and for the ECP liaison for the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education.
From 2018 to 2020, Dr. Gazith served as the academic project leader for McGill University Faculty of Education’s Determining Best Practice for Students with Learning Challenges in Quebec: Comprehensive Review and Knowledge Mobilization.
She is also the author of Teaching with Purpose: How to Thoughtfully Implement Evidence-Based Practices in Your Classroom.
She serves additionally as the director of the Bronfman Jewish Education Centre of Federation CJA.
She holds a strong belief that teachers play a critical role in the success of their students, and she has presented worldwide on topics related to developing key competencies in leadership, inclusive education, evidence-based practices, and assessment and instruction.
Dr. Gazith began her teaching career at the Feuerstein Institute in Jerusalem, where she implemented Dr. Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment Program for young children and adolescents.
She has taught at Hebrew College in Boston and the University of New Brunswick as well.
Dr. Gazith has won numerous excellence awards at Federation CJA in Montreal, including the Pearl Feintuch Award, the Gewurz Award for Jewish Educational Leadership, and Federation CJA awards of excellence. She’s received scholarships from Les Fonds pour la Formation de Chercheurs et l’Aide à la Recherche from the Quebec government, as well as from the Scottish Rite Foundation for doctoral research. Dr. Gazith earned a doctorate in educational psychology from McGill University.

Jeremy Glauser is the founder and CEO of eLuma. With a background in education, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for helping people in need, he founded eLuma to help solve the growing educator shortage problems in education. In so doing, the company has become the nation’s most mission-focused two-sided marketplace that matches and connects the right clinicians with students in K-12 schools and districts. To date, the company has facilitated therapy (speech, school psych, OT, PT, and mental health/counseling services) for tens of thousands of students throughout the United States. His professional mission is to help people fulfill their full potential. His personal passions surround family, including an amazing wife, 5 kids, and a playful pup.
This is Jeremy’s second time on my podcast, and I’m looking forward to catching up since our last conversation in 2020.

Diane Namm is an author and filmmaker with over 20 years of experience in creating stories that inspire, educate, and entertain audiences across different media platforms. She is the founder and owner of Lady of the Canyon, ALL MEDIA, a production company that develops and produces original projects for film and television, such as Finding Hope, The Sacrifice, and Telemafia.
Her passion is to bring classic and contemporary stories to life through engaging and interactive formats, such as books, plays, and films. She has written and published over 65 children's books and young adult novels, as well as adapted and directed stage productions of works by Charles Dickens, Beatrix Potter, O. Henry, Mark Twain and Walter Dean Myers. She has also written, directed, and produced award-winning films that explore social issues, human rights, and cultural diversity. She is a member of the Authors Guild, the Dramatists Guild, and Women in Film, and she is always looking for new ways to connect with readers and viewers.
