Tim Helms, Sr. is in his 41st year in education in Georgia (US). He was a high school science teacher, head football coach and an athletic director. He has served as a principal at all three levels, including high school principal at Thomasville and Cairo High Schools, Georgia. He also served as the assistant superintendent of human resources for Houston County Schools in middle Georgia, and as a school improvement specialist with Middle Georgia RESA before returning to southwest Georgia.
He also is a high school football referee and a baseball umpire.
Tim is a graduate of Florida State University, received his masters in School Administration from Valdosta State University, and his Specialist Degree in Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University. He is an inaugural graduate of the Superintendent Professional Development Program with the Georgia Association of School Superintendents (GSSA) and was recognized as a distinguished principal in the state of Georgia in 2008.
Additionally, Tim is married to Lois and they have two children. Both of their children, Tim, Jr. and Kelli, are teachers. Wait till you hear Tim talk about how he discovered that his children are fifth generation teachers. Awesome!

Todd Whitaker talks with me about teaching teachers and school-based administrators how to work with and talk with parents. His book "Dealing With Difficult Parents" (Routledge, 2016) written with Douglas J. Fiore is an awesome tool that every educator should take time to read and put into practice. Our discussion focuses on practical techniques that you will find helpful.
Todd is a professor of educational leadership at the University of Missouri and professor emeritus at Indiana State University. He has spent his life pursuing his love of education by researching and studying effective teachers and principals.
Prior to moving into higher education, he was a math teacher and basketball coach in Missouri. Todd then served as a principal at the middle school, junior high, and high school levels. He was also a middle school coordinator in charge of staffing, curriculum, and technology for the opening of new middle schools.
One of the nation’s leading authorities on staff motivation, teacher leadership, and principal effectiveness, Todd has written over 50 books including the national bestseller, What Great Teachers Do Differently. Other titles include 75 Ways to Be a Better Teacher Tomorrow, Ten-Minute Inservice, Your First Year, What Great Principals Do Differently, Motivating & Inspiring Teachers, 5o Ways to Improve Student Behavior, Classroom Management From the Ground Up and Dealing With Difficult Parents.
Todd is married to Beth, also a former teacher and principal, who is currently a faculty member of educational leadership at the University of Missouri and professor emeritus at Indiana State University. They are the parents of three children; Katherine, Madeline, and Harrison.

Scott Phillips is a video production superstar with The University of Oregon Athletic Department and Marquam Auction Agency.
He holds a degree in Cinema Studies with departmental honors from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!).
He worked in TV news for 10 years in Portland, both as an on-air personality and a photographer/editor. He produces music videos, and videos for NCAA Division 1 sporting events all across the country. Scott is a filmmaker and has created award-winning documentaries and two feature films. He has written a number of feature film scripts as well.
